Current rebates for the Solar Homes and Communities Plan (SHCP) and Renewable Remote Power Generation Program (RRPGP) finished on the 9th June 2009.
The Australian Federal Government is to introduce a new “Solar Credits” scheme after the Renewable Energy Targets legislation which is currently being debated in the senate is passed hopefully by the end of August.

RENEWABLE ENERGY CERTIFICATES (RECs)
The Mandatory Renewable Energy Target (MRET) supports the reduction of Australia's greenhouse gas emissions by increasing the proportion of Australia's electricity generated from renewable sources. This is achieved through a market-based scheme that trades in Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). Owners of photovoltaic systems may be able to create and sell RECs to help offset the cost of installing renewable energy technology.

SOLAR IN SCHOOLS PROGRAM
A Federal Government program in which schools are eligible to apply for a grant of up to $50,000 for the installation of solar power systems, rainwater tanks and a range of renewable energy measures. See
